Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd. (ADGAS) hosted first of its kind UAE-France Oil and Gas Symposium yesterday amid plans for boosting industrial relations between the two countries. 

The two-day event is a government initiative by UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Committee,to further boost trade and communications between the two countries.

The Symposium presents the latest innovations and technologies to the local oil and gas industry in areas ranging from reservoir management, drilling, geoscience, engineering, subsea maintenance and inspection, health safety and environment, heating equipment and leak detection.

Another focus of the event was cutting edge technologies for the oil and gas industry developed by French small and medium enterprises. Experts in the industry also saw it as a platform to help address the technological and logistical challenges that face the local industry as it endeavors to meet Abu Dhabi's future needs for clean energy, while also sustaining its position as a world leading and reliable energy producer.

His Excellency Michel Miraillet, the French Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates attended the Symposium and said: "The historical ties between the UAE and France always served as a strong base towards bilateral cooperation in a number of important areas. The Strategic Dialogue is determined to move forward and support the organization of a landmark event in the oil and gas sector."

"We, in the UAE hydrocarbons sector, have had long-standing, strategic relationships with key French energy companies. This symposium will further expose our Group companies to the innovations of a wider range of small and medium businesses that are leaving an increasingly significant footprint in the development of the industry," said Dr. Saif Al-Nasseri, ADNOC's Gas Processing Director and member of the Subcommittee on Economy, Investment, Oil and Gas.

Dr. Al-Nasseri added: "The UAE has emerged as a regional economic player, with the oil and gas sector as the powerhouse of Abu Dhabi's economy. We are well aware of the vast cooperation opportunities that lay ahead for both parties and this symposium aims to explore such opportunities, building on the wider understanding and the strategic relationship between the two nations".

As Symposium Host, Mr. Fahim Kazim, CEO of Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Ltd. (ADGAS) said: "It has always been the strategy of ADNOC to embrace the world's latest technologies to remain at the forefront of the industry worldwide. This sharing of expertise and new innovative technologies will serve this purpose"
